Steps in Making Streusel Topping with Oats

  • Place 2 cups traditional oats in a food processor and blended until ground and fine. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
  • Place the ground flour in a bowl of a standing kitchen mixer. Add 4 tablespoons unsalted, cubed, and chilled butter. Add 1/2 cup brown sugar. Add 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt.
  • Mix on kitchen mixer for 3-5 minutes on low speed with the paddle attachment. Streusel is done mixing when medium, uniform clumps appear.
  • Use now. Or, you can put it in an airtight container or plastic bag to use for later use. Be sure to store this in the freezer or fridge. Streusel can be easily be made 1-2 days ahead.

  • 2 cups oats, traditional

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 4 tablespoon unsalted, chilled, and cubed butter

  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt

Directions

  • In a food process, place 2 cups oats. Pulse for 2-3 minutes or until finely ground.
  • Place the blended oats in the bowl of a standing kitchen mixer.
  • To the bowl, add 4 tablespoon unsalted chilled, and cubed butter, 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt, and 1/2 cup brown sugar.
  • Place bowl in kitchen mixer with paddle attachment. Mix on low speed for 3-5 minutes, or until medium clumps form.
  • It is ready! Or store it in an air tight container or plastic bag, in the freezer, for later use.
